So, this story actually starts with a decision my sister made. Mandi is going to Utah State for college in Logan Utah. Within her first few weeks she was at a Taco Bell with some friends and found some dogs that people were trying to get rid of outside. She quickly fell in love with one and decided to bring her home and name her Belle. Her friend was also co-owner of the dog, and took it back to Provo with her. The next weekend Mandi shows up at home with a dog! She informs everybody that she has it all figured out and that she has a friend up in Logan that just got a new dog as well and is willing to look after Belle. So they left, and the next weekend they were back down to give Belle a home and the Mullis house. So now my poor mom is stuck with another dog, and since she is a puppy, she is inside away from the cold.
So, when my family went on a trip to Rhode Island to see Shaun and Melanie, someone needed to watch the poor puppy. So I was asked if I would allow the dog to stay with me for the week. The dog came and the kids had a lot of fun with her.
I quickly discovered that though I still think puppies are cute...I am no where near wanting one. Cats are just easier to take care of. So given that fact that I have a cat, he was not to happy to see a dog in his territory. So after a day or so of the dog still there he decided to leave. Now the first couple of days, no big deal, he does this all the time. After a week, we got worried, then the weather got really cold and still no cat. We were both convinced that he wasn't coming back, cause if he was, he would have come home when it got cold, right? So we went to the shelter to see if he had been picked up, nope, no Tex. Kiera was upset and we have come to enjoy the benefits of having a cat around...like the reduction of mice in my home. So we went to a pet store and found a cat.
Meet Ghost, our new cat. He was born in July, is very playful, and very scared. Which is why we called him Ghost. One minute he is there, a loud noise, and he is gone. He likes to drive my husband crazy by playing with blinds when we are trying to go to sleep, and then driving me crazy when halfway through the night I have a cat running over me and clawing at my bedsheets. But he is the best thing in the world to our daughter. He is her baby, she can be seen holding him most of the day. And though we know this is going to fade, we still didn't have it in us to take him back when three hours after we got home with him, Tex decided to show up. OF COURSE! Jason and I were very close to taking him back, but between his personality and the love that Kiera showed to it....we just didn't have the heart. So now we are a two cat family again.

Go figure that would happen, too funny. Your kids are so lucky to have such fun pets. Maybe someday we'll hop on the pet wagon but I'm too scared just yet with all the work it'll be.
Awesome story!
